Fast delivery isn’t a luxury, it’s table stakes.
Whether shipping ecommerce orders to consumers, managing high-volume B2B wholesale orders or stock transfers, or coordinating time-critical deliveries to building sites, labs, or commercial kitchens, fast delivery is how you drive sales.
For years, however, businesses faced a trade-off: deliver fast or deliver profitably. You could do one, but you couldn’t do both.
Today, we’re addressing that with the launch of ‘Velocity’, Shippit’s new seasonal product drop, built to help businesses deliver faster, smarter, and more profitably - without the operational headaches or margin pressures that fast delivery can create.
The case for speed
According to Shippit research, almost one in three retailers say fast delivery options have the biggest influence on cart conversion and long-term loyalty*. The data backs that up with retailers offering same- or next-day delivery generating 4% more orders than those who didn’t during peak**.
Meanwhile, same-day delivery costs are falling. In 2024, shoppers had to pay $4.02 to upgrade from express to same-day delivery; in 2025 that dropped to $2.70*. Two in three customers say they would pay extra for same-day delivery*.
Unmanaged, speed can break operations, erode margins, and diminish customer experiences. When it's smart, however, fast delivery doesn’t just drive sales, it protects revenue, reduces cost, wins customer loyalty and differentiates your brand. That’s the tension Velocity is built to solve.
Here’s what’s new and what's coming this season:
Conversational Analytics (BETA)
Today, just one in three retailers use their data to optimise operations, reduce costs, or improve delivery experiences. Through Conversational Analytics, we’re democratising access to insights that once required a data scientist; enabling all retailers to turn their data into insights, and those insights into growth.
With Conversational Analytics retailers, regardless of their technical expertise, will be able to ask Shippit’s insights and data questions in everyday language. “Which deliveries cost me the most last week?", “Where am I losing margin on shipping?", “What is my DIFOT rate on big and bulky items?”. Your data has the answers, and those answers hold the key to growth opportunities.
B2B Delivery Solutions
According to Forrester, the biggest focus for B2B organisations today is their bottom line and revenue growth†. Presently, many B2B businesses believe their requirements are too complex to digitise - a myth that will become even more costly as buyers expect the same speed, convenience, and transparency they’re used to as consumers.
The same is true in retail, where store-to-store transfers are often managed through manual processes with limited visibility across locations. When teams rely on spreadsheets, emails or multiple portals, it becomes harder to track stock in transit, react to demand shifts and protect margin.
To help B2B wholesalers and retailers turn operational complexity into a competitive advantage, we're extending our leading multi-carrier platform into wholesale delivery. The same reliability and controls that power consumer deliveries now support store replenishment, trade, and palletised freight, with smart consolidation, carrier choice, and real-time visibility built in. Fewer portals, fewer calls, and one place to run delivery.
Agentic AI Support
As ecommerce penetration grows and delivery speeds increase, so do customer expectations. Over half of Gen Z Australians say their expectations have increased as a direct result of Amazon, while two in three of all shoppers wouldn’t return to a brand after a poor delivery experience.
When something goes wrong, anxiety escalates quickly. WISMO (‘Where is my order?’) enquiries account for up to 70%‡ of all customer service requests making them one of the most costly and resource-draining. Every enquiry absorbs support capacity, increases cost-to-serve and pulls teams from revenue-generating tasks.
Our new Agentic AI Support - which resolved over 7,000 enquiries during peak 2025 - offers real-time agent orchestration across carriers and our human support experts. Customers receive answers before frustrations escalate, reducing inbound contact volumes, and resolution times. For retailers, that means lower support costs, greater operational efficiency during peak, and stronger customer loyalty at the most important stage of the purchase journey.
Smarter Shipping Rules
As delivery networks expand and product ranges diversify, shipping decisions become exponentially more complex. Every SKU demands different handling, yet many businesses still rely on static rules, which can erode margins, or manual intervention, which drags out fulfilment speeds.
To help businesses with complex freight workflows, we've significantly upgraded our smart shipping rules to give retailers greater control and automation at scale. Automatically route shipments based on weight, destination, product type or price. Send heavy orders to carriers for bulky freight, regional postcodes to local specialists, high-value SKUs to premium services with special handling and automate attachment of documents for international shipping.
Enhanced Transit Protection
Around one in every hundred parcels in Australia is damaged in transit each year, translating to an estimated $1-$2 billion in uncompensated losses***. As businesses seek to increase both fulfilment and delivery speeds, the potential for damage or loss to parcels increases.
Our enhanced transit protection simplifies how retailers safeguard revenue when things go wrong. With broader coverage - including for fragile items - and a self-serve portal, businesses can lodge and manage claims quickly. Faster assessments and payouts improve cash flow, reduce administrative burden, and minimise the customer frustrations that damaged or lost parcels can cause.
